Community Consultation Process
As part of the planning process to revitalise the Village Hub we wanted to make sure that the plan was:
1/ Sustainable (both financially and ecologically)
2/ Relevant (to our community)
3/ Inclusive - i.e., that we meet the needs of ALL of the community, not just certain parts of it.
It was therefore very important to us that we meet with a broad spectrum of representatives from our community. We wanted to access their knowledge of this village and the surrounding areas and more importantly to access their local experience and knowledge of this community, its strengths, its challenges and its needs.
We invited a group of 51 individuals and families from the community to take part in a series of Focus Group Meetings at the Hub and we also asked them to complete a detailed online survey.
To ensure that our research was impartial and fully representative of the community we chose members of our focus groups from a variety of age groups and demographics. We documented a very wide group of potential interest groups and demographic groups in the community and invited a random selection from each of these groups to participate in our study.
We included representatives from:
Ivinghoe Parish and other surrounding villages.
Ages ranges from 18-82
A broad spectrum of lifestyles and occupations
Local voluntary sector groups (such as Ivinghoe Paris Council & Church representatives)
Local cultural and sporting groups (artists, photographers, teachers, sports and leisure enthusiasts)
The Focus Groups were the opportunity to share with local residents the results of our research during our first few months as Trustees and to get their approval for our proposed plan of action - Revitalisation Plan. The plans met with overwhelming approval from our groups who were very generous with their additional input and ideas around how we could take the Revitalisation Plan even further.
